With just 5 ingredients you can create the most deliciously crisp, piping hot churros imaginable.
Combine with my easy hot chocolate dip and you've created a piece of heaven!
Ingredients for churros
150g plain or self raising flour
1 free range egg
Ingredients for hot chocolate dip
200g dark chocolate 70% cocoa solids
2 tbsp golden syrup
200ml single cream
2 tbsp caster sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
Pre heat a large pan 1/2 full of sunflower oil.
add water, sugar butter and a pinch of salt to a large saucepan and heat until simmering.
add flour then beat over a low heat, the mixture will thicken to a stiff dough.
turn off heat and cool dough for 5 mins, add egg then beat to a smooth paste.
fill a piping bag fitted with a large star nozzle (number 8 works well)
pipe out churros, about 15cm works well cut with scissors into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crisp.
Drain on kitchen paper, then roll in sugar and cinnamon.
Method for hot chocolate dip
Add 200ml cream to a saucepan with 2 tbsp of golden syrup heat until hot but not boiling.
Break up chocolate and add to the hot cream and stir until melted.
Now all you need to do is let the churro meet the chocolate and acquaint
it with your mouth!
